New Research by Harvard Medical School at Brigham and Women's Hospital

Research completed at one of the Harvard Medical School teaching hospitals, Brigham and Women's Hospital, was published on July 20th 2010 in the 4th most cited medical journal in the world, the Annals of Internal Medicine. The researchers used our beta version of Turnitin for Admissions in their research and found at least 1 in 20 residency application personal statements included plagiarized content. We believe (and the researchers agree) that the results would have been much higher if the similarity reports had been read as they would be during the application review process to determine if small matches to a suspect website or document indicated plagiarism. The following articles are a handful of over 50 reports on this research.
